Exodus 35:30-36:3

And Moses said to the
children of Israel, "See, the
L
ORD has called by name
Bezalel the son of Uri, the
son of Hur, of the tribe of
Judah; and He has filled him
with the Spirit of God, in
wisdom and understanding,
in knowledge and all manner
of workmanship, to design
artistic works, to work gold
and silver and bronze, in
cutting jewels for setting, in
carving wood, and to work in
all manner of artistic
workmanship.
And He has put in his heart
the ability to teach, in him
and Aholiab the son of
Ahisamach, of the tribe of
Dan. He has filled them with
skill to do all manner of
work of the engraver and the
designer and the tapestry
maker, in blue, purple, and
scarlet thread, and fine linen,
and of the weaver—those
who do every work and
those who design artistic
works.
And Bezalel and Aholiab,
and every gifted artisan in
whom the L
ORD has put
wisdom and understanding,
to know how to do all
manner of work for the
service of the sanctuary,
shall do according to all that
the L
ORD has commanded."
Then Moses called Bezalel
and Aholiab, and every
gifted artisan in whose heart
the L
ORD had put wisdom,
everyone whose heart was
stirred, to come and do the
work.
Briefly, I thought this instructional session was extremely helpful, but the following bullets
contain my thoughts as I completed the tutorial:

•        Realistic – Donna Fleisher is aware of the business of writing and being published. As a
published author, something each of us strives to be, she acknowledges it’s not an easy road.
She admits to making some of the common errors in the past, and gives advice on how to avoid
these pitfalls. Donna is empathetic, encouraging, and supportive.

•        Passionate – Donna Fleisher is passionate about writing good Christian fiction and
building characters that breathe. She’s eager to help you show your characters live, rather than
telling your readers what to think.

•        Motivational – The manner in which Donna Fleisher presents her instruction makes it
difficult to take breaks during the six hours of instruction. In addition, she causes you to feel
excited about returning to your writing, but you have to finish the tapes or you’ll miss an
invaluable treat further along the way. Quite a quandary!

•        Educator – Donna Fleisher presents her knowledge in an easy-to-understand manner.
Take notes! There’s a lot to learn. You’ll look at your novel constructively again, and enjoy it,
even if it is your very own beloved creation that needs improvement.

•        Entertaining – Donna Fleisher keeps you amused with her warmth, enthusiasm, her down-
to-earth personality, and “conversations” with Chris.

More essential than all the above, Donna Fleisher is a woman “called to be God’s own” and
rightly places Him above all else. While she admits writing is a “task He’s given to her,” she
believes our job as Christian fiction authors is to “express how awesome it is to be His.” Her
heart shines through and she becomes your “friend.”

I've listened to Donna's tape series, Bringing Fiction to Life, several times. One time
through is not sufficient to absorb all the little writing nuggets. I love Donna's style. It made
me feel like she was speaking directly to me, as if we were in a conversation, rather than a
classroom lecture. I've been writing for ten years and still gleaned so much from
Bringing
Fiction to Life
. I highly recommend her tape series for all beginning writers. Donna Fleisher
has greatly improved my writing skills, as her tips have filled my tool box. I will always be
grateful to her!

I've been writing for 8 1/2 years. After listening to the full course I wanted to scream. Where
was Donna all those years ago?!?

Bringing Fiction to Life is like a mini-conference and only costs $45 plus shipping. If you're
fairly new to the writing world—or would like a refresher course—be sure to take
advantage of this fantastic deal. She covers an unbelievable amount of material in those six
hours, but never overwhelms. For instance, she tells specifically how to format your
manuscripts, including tricks to get Word to behave, but also covers broad topics like why
we write Christian fiction and what that even means. I guarantee you will be encouraged and
enlightened after listening to this course!
