an open letter to . . .
. . . Cheryl Wyatt.
Hey Cheryl! Thanks for "touring" through my
neighborhood!! : )
Buzz has really been building for your debut
novel, A Soldier's Promise, released just this
month by Steeple Hill. A Romantic Times Top
Pick! Way to go, girlfriend!! Woo-hoo!!
Congratulations!!! Hope you're enjoying every
minute of the ride. (It only gets wilder and
crazier from here.)
It's okay that I'm probably once again going to be infuriated by the romance (since most romance
novels do that to me). WHY DON'T THEY JUST KISS ALREADY!?!? DO THEY REALLY
THINK THEY CAN JUST BE FRIENDS??!!??
Okay, I'm better now. Whew. Just talking about it helps. ; )
Well, lady, thanks again for touring by. Hope the whirlwind leaves you breathless and
overjoyed. I have a feeling it already has. Enjoy it! And catch your breath soon, cuz it's all about
to happen again. Bring on Manny and Celia!!!
Vaya con Dios, everyone!
donna
P.S. Oh, almost forgot! Cheryl, cuz she's just way too cool, said she'd give away a free
autographed copy of A Soldier's Promise to one of you lucky readers who leaves a comment
saying you want one (and whatever else you want to say). I'll pick a winner in one week: at 5:00
p.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday February 5th, 2008. Be sure and put your e-mail address on the
comment form—it won't appear on the comment itself, but I'll see it, and that's how I'll notify
you. Thanks!! And thanks, Cheryl!!!!!

Hey, Donna, long time, no hear from me, huh? Thanks for your sweet words about my mother-in-
law's death. We've been busy for the past two weeks with her coma, death, funeral service in
AZ (which John officiated at), family gathering, return to Portland last Thursday, a memorial
service at her memory care facility yesterday, and now back to real life! I'm emotionally drained
and definitely ready for the weekend at the beach on the 8th!
Oh, and before I forget, I want entered to win Cheryl's book. It really sounds good, and you
certainly gave it a glowing report. (I hope you'll be able to do that for Christy and me some
eon!!)
Love you, and looking forward to seeing you soon!

Okay, I'm biting, enter me in for the book. Haven't had a chance to get one of Cheryl's books and
we're like neighbors. About Four hours away neighbors, LOL!
Still kicking around the idea of jetting out there in July. Hmm. rotten family reunion where
everyone struts around trying to act better than everyone else, or meet up with awesome Donna
and the rest of the crew out in OR? Hmmmmmmm ... Choices, choices, choices.

Please don't enter me in your drawing: I already have my copy. I just wanted to join in the talk
about Cheryl's book. I am sitting on the edge of my chair, waiting for March to come for Cheryl's
next book to come out. You all just don't know, if you haven't read it for yourself, what fun you
ARE missing!

Mom told me I was missing out, so I had to throw my name in the hat, too! Those three hours a
day of PT exercises--and I'm not kidding--have sapped my blog reading time. :-( I actually got to
hear Cheryl speak at an ACFW late night chat. I think. But it's really late at night so if that never
happened, forgetaboutit.

Sounds like a terrific book! Please enter my name in the contest. See you soon! Judy

AND JEWLZ WON! The last shall be first, I guess. : )
I remember when I first heard you were interested in
writing about U.S. Air Force pararescue, parajumping,
and paramedic types. From that moment, you hooked
me. When I first saw the cover of your debut novel, I
was hooked. After reading it . . . yep, I'm still hooked.
You've written a fun, fun story that's sweet, honest, a
wee bit infuriating (all romances do that to me), a wee
bit hilarious, very touching, and very real. I had tears
in my eyes on page 14!! Joel kneels, sticks out his
hand to Bradley, and says, "Senior Airman Joel
Montgomery, little sir. You must be Bradley."
'Course, I love Bradley's first impressions. He says,
"Are those real muscles?" Poke, poke, poke. "They
are! Dang!"
It's been fun getting to know you through AGF, ACFW, and on-line. Maybe one of these days
we'll actually be able to "meet." That would be cool. But, if not, we'll have to carve out some
"heaven time" to just sit and talk and get to know each other. Ahhhhh . . . we'll have all the time
in the world. (So to speak.) ; )
I love how you portrayed Joel and "his boys."
Can't wait to read the rest of the series. We'll all
definitely grab up A Soldier's Family when it
releases in March. And the third book in the
Wings of Refuge Series when it releases. We'll
expect the same kind of touching story mixed with
your trademarked hilarity. (Especially since Celia
is a hoot. Can't wait to see how she discovers and
deals with her own "Soldier Cutie.") Yup, we'll
expect another great story. And you'll deliver. We
know you will.
