an open letter to . . .
. . . Jenness Walker.
Jenness, you sweetheart you, how are ya? Did you have a nice
Christmas? Thanks so much for serenading me with "We Wish
You A Merry One" when you called me. How cool that you called
me on Christmas! Hope you didn't think (and still don't think) that
I'm crazy for how I spent my day (and week leading up to it). It all
got done, nothing leaks, and I feel like I've got a brand-new ride.
'Course, I'm so stiff and sore now I can hardly move. ; )

One of these days I need to hop in the ol' clean and shiny Lil Hummer and come see ya. I'd love
for you to show me around your corner of the ocean. But not when it's too hot, 'kay? Oh, yeah,
and let's do Taco Bell. For sure. I'll buy, just cuz.
Hope things are going well with your current WIPs. I love that you're starting something new,
even as the other stories call out to you, "Edit us! Edit us!!" Sometimes the best thing is to say
right back, "Oh, later. Leave me alone!" There's always enough time to get everything done.
Besides, our work is never done, right? Someone will always find something that needs "work."
Ahh, but that's the fun of this journey. Always making our stuff better and better.
Congrats on making a splash at the ACFW conference!
I love this shot of you and Tracy. I love knowing that I
knew you when. It's been so fun working with you, but
much more than that, it's been fun getting to know you
(you have the coolest sense of humor, even though you
don't think so) and being your friend. Thanks for all the
cool e-mails. Thanks for talking to my answering
macheen and not being bugged cuz I'm never home.
Thanks for the interview and the review and for
helping to spread the word about my stuff.
Ahh, girl, when that time comes—I can't wait for the
day when you (and Tracy!) will be signing your books
for me. Can't wait for the day when I can . . . well, I
won't have my blog anymore, but I'll put reviews for
your stuff on Amazon and ChristianBook and . . .
I promise. : )
Cuz it'll be fun. Your books will be fun. (Well, except for that spiritual warfare story—that
sounds intense!) Can't wait to read 'em all.
Until then, thanks for keeping in touch, thanks for being such a cool friend, and thanks for just
being you. Can't wait for the day when I can see you in person and plant a huge hug on ya!!!
Love ya, babe! And, don't forget, vaya con Dios—always!! We're gonna have us some serious
fun in Heaven with Him and with all our brothers and sisters. Can't wait!!!!!
later gator,
donna

Shh!! Donna, you're telling my secrets. :-) The "something new" is a blast so far, but the old is
calling louder and louder. :-)
Glad the Lil Hummer is better than ever. As for coming to visit...We're thinking about buying a
bigger place, so hold off just a bit longer and you can save your hotel $ for a trip to Disney. :-)
Okay, okay, or for daily trips to Taco Bell and a lovely scrapbook to put all your new seashells
in.
Thank you for your friendship and advice. I'll miss your blog but hope the emails won't quit. :-)
You're a very special lady, Donna. Glad you had a good Christmas, and I wish you all the best in
2008.
P.S. How weird is this...in the picture of Tracy and me, is that your friend Dayle in the
background???!

HAH!!! Ya know, I think it is!! Wowsers, Dayle, yer a cutie. ; )
And hey, Jenness, a trip to see you (and yer cutie hubby), a trip to Disney, walking on the
Atlantic beach (where there actually are seashells, not like around here), AND Taco Bell?
Sounds like pure heaven on earth!!!

Yes, that is me and, yes, I am a cu..., I mean I am blushing again.
Actually, I just wanted to have my picture taken with a couple of Genesis Award winners.
Congratulations Jenness and Tracy.

Just for you, Dayle, a quote from your cutie (Miss Congeniality): "How bizarro is that??"
Actually, I think it's pretty cool! Whodathunk it? Thanks for pointing it out, J. Shows ya how
observant I am. ; )

Well, Dayle, I was supposed to tell you hi from Donna at the conference. I guess that was my
opportunity right there. :-) Sorry I never found you. So...Hi from Donna.
Hey, Donna. Did you know Taco Bell sells Root Beer now? As if I needed another reason to
love them. :-)
Posted by: jenness
Nope, Jenness, it's always Mountain Dew with Taco Bell. Don't get me wrong, I love Root Beer.
But nutin' else hits the spot after a couple of bean burritos or a couple of Mexican pizzas or
about a half-dozen chicken tacos ... than the Dew. Yummy. : )

I'd agree, except the Dew, to be at its best, must come in an ice-cold can. For fountain drinks,
Root Beer beats the watered-down-with-ice Dew all to pieces. :-)
