an open letter to . . .
. . . Sherrie Ashcraft.

Sherrie, on this blustery rainy day, I have a feeling you're
home safe and dry with Josh and Andrea keeping you busy as
you all keep several eyes on Christina.  I hope she's able to
rest and get around without too much pain.  I hope the pain
you have been feeling is easing, too.  See, I know you and
Christina share a bond that nothing can touch, the deepest kind
of love made only stronger by your shared love for Jesus.
Inseparable twin sisters you are.  I love that!!  : )
It was so good to see you the other night, to know you and your handsome hubby enjoyed a little
beach therapy for your anniversary.  I know the wind howled, and the chairs in the room
probably weren't the most comfortable, but I hope the glow of the fireplace deepened the quiet
moments the two of you shared.  It was fun to give you several hugs—one for you, one for
Christina, and a huge one for Josh and Andrea.  I know you passed them all along, saving the
one for you.  That hug, I hope you will always cherish.  I meant it.  Still do.

Meeting you and Christina through OCW and getting to know you over the years has been a true
joy.  I positively cannot wait for that day when you'll both be signing your books for me.

It's fun to think that I knew you both when . . .

As Christmas closes in on Ashberry Lane, my prayers for you and your entire family are ones of
peace, comfort, and joy.  All the good stuff of Christmas.  And I'll tell you the truth—I am so
looking forward to heaven, when we can all sit for thousands of years and just . . . savor.
Savoring each moment of a timeless eternity.  Spending each moment in the home our Father
created for us, in His presence, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, with you.  With all our
awesome brothers and sisters, all the awesome friends we make here on earth but have so little
time to really get to know.

Heaven awaits us.  And it's here with us right now.  At least a part of it.  Thanks for helping to
make my time of heaven on earth so wonderful.

All my love, with prayers and lots more hugs,
donna

Wow, Donna—way to pull at my heart strings. You should be a writer! Your letter was a
special blessing to me when I read it yesterday, and then again today. I love the way you express
yourself, and the way you can make each of us feel like we're your very best friend! I think that's
a bit of the God-part of you showing up!

You have meant so much to me in just the short time I've known you. Thank you for your
transparency about both the positive and negative parts of writing. Because of you, Christina
and I are going into this whole thing with our eyes wide open. Or at least with just a little bit of
a squint! And when we have concerns, you'd better know we'll be turning to you.

I'm worn out tonight, as this week has just been a busy one for me, what with taking care of the
dear patient and her chidren. Christina's doing well—had her first shower this morning before
going to PT. That sure tired her out and she slept all afternoon. I picked the kids up from their
last day of school (yipee!!) and took them to McMinnville where we spent some quality time
with my parents. I love having family surround me like this.

This is probably much longer than what someone with any sense would post in a comment
section, but there you have it!

May your Christmas at the motel be a way for you to share the Lord's joy with strangers, and
may your new year be filled with things you can't even begin to imagine.

And use that $50 to drive to Ashberry. It's all free once you get here!

Loads of love, Sherrie
