What's new and exciting?
Well, so much, I'm having to set up a page two! Wow. A mini-blog.
But don't forget, for the real thing, check out my blog. Never a dull moment over there. Well, usually.
And be sure to check out page three of the news here. Lots of fun stuff on page three, including

Okay, everyone. Are you sitting down? This is so bizarre I still
can't believe it. But, seeing it in black and white on the ECPA's
Website and the CBA's Website . . . I guess it really is legit. ; )
Check this out: click on that big huge 50 over there and see
where it takes you. Once you get there, scroll down and down
and down. Yep. See what I mean? And enough to finish it 16th
on the CBA's top 20 fiction titles. Wowzers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oregon Christian Writers!! I love you all!!!! What a fun time we had this
week, huh? And woo-hoo I positively cannot wait until next year since
Angela Hunt is going to keynote for us. Very cool.
Oh, and thank You, Lord, 'cause it really was, literally, cool. All week. What
a blessing for this heat-hatin' lady. Hey, I live on the coast for a reason! : )

Had a great time at the Northwest Christian Writer's meeting. Thanks so much, y'all, for having me
up there to give my wee talk. The ice cream was great.

And then there were three. The Homeland Heroes Series is now officially a trilogy. For now.
April 6-11, 2006
Mount Hermon! One of my favorite places in the entire world. And a good time was had by all. It
was super cool to see a bunch of my cool author and editor friends again, and to meet a whole
bunch of new ones. Susan Meissner won this year's Writer of the Year!! I told her they'll give that
award to anyone.
; )
Hung out with Susan quite a bit, and with Susie Larson and Judy Gann and Patti Hill. Wow. Susie
is amazing. Judy is a sweetheart. And Patti just had her debut novel, Like a Watered Garden,
finish in the top three nominations for a Christy!! That is entirely way too cool. Congrats, lady!
Didn't get to hang out with Camy Tang near enough. Can't wait to hold her debut novel in my hand.
Next year! She's officially my Zondervan sistah. Yeah. Way too cool. Congrats to you too, lady!
Yep, we had a buncha fun at Mount Hermon this year. Already looking forward to next year.

Pix recap: My awesome not-so-secret agent man,
Steve Laube. Two of da coolest ever, Karen Ball
and Julee Schwarzburg. Judy and Camy. Susie,

Schaaaawhew!!!!! Made it!!!! Book Four of the Homeland Heroes Series is
now a reality. Finished on deadline, and on its way to Z. Well, not anywhere
near finished. This one is, by far, the roughest draft of any story I've sent in
so far. But, ain't that what the editing process is for? : )
By the way, you're hearing it hear first: Book Four is going to be called
Standing Strong, with the front-cover tagline: Four warriors. Two rival
gangs. Is faith enough to win peace on the streets of Kimberley Square?
Yep, Chris gets herself in another pickle. When is she gonna learn? (Well,
hopefully not until after Book Six!!)

February 2006
Busy month! First the Women of Hope Conference in Florence. Wow. What
an amazing time. Again. I love this weekend! It'll be on my calendar
forever. And if you have never heard Dory Van Stone tell her heartbreaking,
yet amazing story of God's love and grace, you need to. Get her book and
read it. Wow doesn't even begin to describe it. Our God is so good!
Then the Oregon Christian Writers One-Day Winter Conference in Salem.
Very fun time with that group. It was great to hear Debbie Hedstrom Page.
She was president of OCW when I first joined back in 1997, and she's the
best. I loved her talk about the hearts of the kings of Israel. I can only hope
my heart is set on Christ alone. : )
Then Writer's Weekend at the Beach up in Ocean Park, Washington. This is
so fun and relaxing. Birdie Etchison and Pat Rushford put on a nice deal.
Oh, and my talk about "Fiction's Cureall Remedy" went okay. At least I
think so (hee-hee).
I was hoping to hit the beach afterward, but with the super-low tides (the
Clammer's Tide, they called it), I didn't want to fight with 20,000 people on
the beach at the same time. So I'm still due for my major sand dollar hunt.
I'm in withdrawal. I need my sand dollars! (Just for that, this post gets two
of them.) (No, three. And, yes, they are real sand dollars—I scanned them in
with my pillow behind them. Cool, huh?)

Well, it's finally official. I just signed my
new contract with Zondervan, in triplicate.
Sales for Books One and Two have been
slightly less-than-spectacular, so I'm still a
bit surprised they agreed to this, but this
new contract paves the way for Books
Four, Five, and Six in the Homeland
Heroes Series. Woo-hoo!!!
I'm so jazzed that Chris and Erin will have three more opportunities to
share their adventures with you. Chris still has much to learn about being
a Christian, and Erin has a new baby to raise! Talk about adventures.
It's been so much fun working with these two. I love the way Valiant
Hope plays out, and the way it ends. And now it won't be The End! My
prayer is that God will use all of these stories to touch your hearts with
His love, as only He can. He's certainly touched mine through them.
(BTW, this is how I picture them. Chris is on the left. And, yes, the guy
on the cover of Warrior's Heart is supposed to be Scott.) : )
page two of the news
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

1 John 1:3-4
That which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

Just like the sign says, we had us an author signing at the
Christian Gift Center in Lakewood, Washington. Judy Gann
and I had a great time, along with the wonderful owners of the
store and their two daughters, who so graciously helped us
spread the word by facing major embarrassment to stand out
by the curb, waving their sign and balloon at all the passersby.
Thanks, ladies!! And thanks to your mom and dad too!!!

My happiest thanks to all one hundred of you who signed my
guest book over the years. However, due to it being slammed
by dumbheads, I needed to delete it. : ( But please send me an
e-mail anytime at donna at donnafleisher dot com. I'd love to
hear from you! And this way it'll be easier for me to reply. : )
Thanks.
